Mallard

One for the books today! Bill and I headed out for our fall morning hunt under partly cloudy skies, perfect conditions for what turned into an outstanding waterfowl adventure with Captain Ken's Wild Wings and our Morning Duck Hunt Adventures on Lake Erie.
Once the stage was set, we worked a combination of pass shooting and decoy hunting that really paid off. The mallards were moving well in the early morning hours, and we managed to connect on several along with a nice Canada goose that came in just right. Port Clinton's location gives us that perfect setup where the birds naturally funnel through, making our decoy spread and shooting lanes work like a charm.
The partly cloudy conditions kept the birds active throughout our hunt, and we even got some solid jump shooting opportunities when we moved to a different spot. Bill put together a mixed bag that any waterfowler would be proud of, and we wrapped up the morning with smiles all around.
If you're looking to experience some of Ohio's finest waterfowl hunting, our Morning Duck Hunt Adventures on Lake Erie offer everything you need for a memorable hunt. We provide guided waterfowl hunting that combines proven techniques like decoy hunting, pass shooting, and jump shooting in prime Port Clinton waters. Our hunts accommodate up to 4 hunters in the standard package, with options for larger groups up to 6 shooters. Bob and his crew joined us for a fall morning run on Lake Erie, launching just before sunrise under thick, overcast skies—the kind of conditions that experienced anglers know can lead to an aggressive walleye bite. With the lake laying down just enough, we made the call to run 40 miles out to get on a known concentration of fish. It’s a haul, but when you’re chasing numbers and quality, it’s the right move.Fishing out of East Harbor State Park on a 7-hour guided trip with Capt. Kenny of Captain Ken’s Wild Wings, we put our time and knowledge to work. This stretch of open water held tight pods of walleye feeding along temperature breaks and subtle bottom contours. We leaned on a proven mix of trolling and vertical jigging, adjusting depths and speeds to stay dialed in as the morning progressed. The crew stayed busy from the start—steady bites, clean hookups, and solid fish hitting the deck. Overcast skies helped extend the prime bite window, and we took full advantage. Lake Erie Morning Walleye Trolling Charter - Top-Rated Action!

Action-packed day from the get-go! I took Adam and their crew out for an 8-hour trip on Lake Erie this fall, launching from Anchors Away Marina in Port Clinton, OH. We set out early in the morning under partly cloudy skies, with a chance of storms later in the day. The water conditions on Lake Erie were favorable as we headed out with Captain Ken's Wild Wings for some Yellow Perch and Smallmouth Bass action.
Once the stage was set, we focused on targeting American Yellow Perch around some productive wrecks. I employed a mix of techniques to give us the best shot at success. We started with some trolling to cover water and locate active fish. When we found promising spots, we switched to jigging and bottom fishing to really work the structure. The crew got into the rhythm quickly, and we managed to boat some nice Yellow Perch throughout the day. While we didn't land any monsters this time, the steady action kept everyone engaged and having a great time on the water.
As the day progressed, we explored different wrecks and adjusted our approach based on what the fish were telling us. The partly cloudy conditions actually worked in our favor, providing some cover without completely shutting down the bite. We kept an eye on the weather, ready to head in if those possible storms materialized, but luck was on our side and we were able to fish the full day. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, having put some nice Yellow Perch in the box and created some great memories on Lake Erie.

What a great day on the water, couldn't ask for more action! As spring settled in over Lake Erie, I had the pleasure of taking Emily out for a morning of offshore fishing near Port Clinton, OH. As the morning progressed, we switched things up, casting crankbaits to target different depths and structures. When that slowed down, we tried our hand at bottom fishing with live bait, hoping to entice any lurking fish. Despite our efforts and the variety of methods we used, the fish weren't particularly cooperative on this outing. But that's fishing - some days they bite, some days they don't. We didn't stick a trophy on this run, but every cast and minute on the water was worth it.
